During July 2013, the campus Space Advisory Committee asked that a working group form to document the campus space moves process and to develop a user's tool box for those at UC Merced who will be moving to newly assigned space.  Assistant Vice Chancellor John White from Capital Finance and Space Management (CFSM) and Campus Ombuds De Acker, served as co-chairs of the work group.  The group met weekly over a six-week period.

The work group considered best practices from other universities and used internal case studies to inform a study of the process. Draft documents were developed and shared with invited stake holders for their review and to make suggestions. Ultimately, the work group decided to create a tool kit for campus employees who would be experiencing a space move or new space assignment.

The tool kit includes: guidelines, an individual's checklist and related documentation supporting planning for a move. A flow chart was developed to show the decision and work flow process for space moves. Documentation with these and additional resources are available on the CFSM Space Management webpages.
